Postgraduate Specialisation Schools in the healthcare field for non-medical graduates are highly vocational university programmes.
At the end of the training programme, the specialist qualification in the chosen field is awarded.
For non-medical Specialisation Schools in the healthcare area, admission is through a public entrance examination with a limited number of places.

Enrolment in Non-Medical Specialisation Schools is, in compliance with the ministerial provisions for SSMs, one academic year behind other degree programmes.

The Non-Medical Specialisation Schools offered at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia are:

The School is aimed at graduates holding a Master’s degree in:

  • Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (Class LM 46), 
  • Master’s graduates in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (Class 52/S),
  • Four-year graduates under old system in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics 

A professional qualification is required.

Reserved for graduates holding a Master’s degree in: 

  • Biology (Class LM-6) graduates holding a State Examination in Biology, 
  • Medical, Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Class LM9)
  •  Industrial Biotechnologies (LM8), 
  • Agricultural and Food Biotechnology (Class LM7), having passed the relevant State Examinations in Biotechnology. 
  • Veterinary Medicine (Class LM42), having passed the State Examination for Veterinarians, 
  • Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy (Class LM13), having passed the State Examination for Pharmacists, 
  • Chemistry (Class LM54), having passed the State Examination for Chemists, 
  • holders of equivalent master’s degrees and four-year degrees under the old system in Veterinary Medicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, together with the corresponding state examination.

The School has been operating at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia since the 2006–2007 academic year.

The School is aimed at graduates in Pharmacy and in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology who have obtained one of the following degrees:

  • Laurea degree (DL) obtained prior to the entry into force of Ministerial Decree no. 509/99 in Pharmacy or in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology;
  • Master’s degree (LS) belonging to class 14/S in Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy (Ministerial Decree no. 509/99 and subsequent amendments and additions);
  • Master’s degree (LM) belonging to Class LM-13 in Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy (Ministerial Decree no. 270/2004 and subsequent amendments and additions);
  • holding a qualification to practise as a pharmacist
