The Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civilian Service has published a call for volunteers to select young people (aged 18 to 29 at the time of application) to be employed in civilian service projects in Italy as part of the “Environmental Civilian Service” trial.

The projects all have a duration of 12 months, a commitment of 25 hours per week and a monthly allowance of €519.47.

The deadline for applications from young people is 15 October 2025 at 2 p.m.

The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia is offering 4 places (including 1 reserved for young people with fewer opportunities with an ISEE of less than €15,000) at its Sant'Eufemia Complex (Largo Sant'Eufemia 19, Modena) as part of the project “SCA - Modena's old railway lines: redevelopment, transformation and perception of the landscape” (PTXSU0052724060076NMTX).

The volunteers will work in particular to promote knowledge and awareness among citizens, schools, public and private entities about the complexity of the area affected by Modena's network of disused railways and the environmental and landscape issues that characterise it, together with opportunities for tourism development, in order to encourage individual and collective involvement in good practices for the protection and promotion of sustainability.
Download the project summary sheet and find out more about all the planned activities.

Prospective volunteers must submit their application exclusively through the Domanda on Line (DOL) platform, which can be accessed via PC, tablet and smartphone at  https://domandaonline.serviziocivile.it
