Consult the Training Offer for the 2009/2010 academic year

Faculty presentation

The Faculty of Engineering has existed for over ten years, being founded in the Academic Year 1990-91 to conclude the Biennial “Introduction to Engineering” that had existed since 1936. Its main site, which extends over 160,000 m2, meets the most advanced teaching and research requirements. It regularly collaborates with celebrated firms in the car manufacturing, chemical, mechanical, ceramics and biomedical fields, as well as enterprises in the sectors of information technology, industrial electronics and telecommunications. The Faculty has been growing in osmosis with this formidable network for a long time, cultivating and expanding its level of research and technological application. Its graduates can find employment with little difficulty, thanks to the professionalising training offered (apprenticeships and work experience). These experiences offer students the chance of further developing the knowledge gained during the academic programme and of getting to know the world of work. The teaching is split into seven Degree Programmes, three in Computer engineering (Electronics Eng., Computer Eng. and Telecommunications Eng.), two in Industrial engineering (Materials Eng. and Mechanical Eng.) and two in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Environmental Eng. and Civil Eng., previously reserved for Official Army Engineering Corps Trainees, but from the next academic year 2007/2008 open to everyone) and in seven 2nd level Degree Programmes (Environmental & Sustainability Eng., Computer Eng., Telecommunications Eng., Vehicle Eng., Mechanical Eng., Electronic Eng., Planning and Development of New Materials). Also running are five Master Programmes (Vehicle Eng., Information Systems Security, Oleodynamic-Fluid Power, Plastic Materials, Expertise in the Internationalisation of Enterprises). Since 2006 there have also been three PhD Schools running (High Mechanics and Automotive Design & Technology, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Modelling, Computational Simulation and Multiscale Characterisation for Materials and Life Sciences). The commitment to internationalisation is intense, helped along by European student exchange programmes (Socrates - Erasmus) and the PhD Schools, but also by collaboration with numerous joint research projects abroad.
The Faculty invites its students to participate in an Entrance Test (which is not binding as regards matriculation) planned this year for the 5th of September 2007. This test is an orientation tool to help the student to assess his/her own preparation and aptitude. During the month of September there are Introductory Programmes to allow students to plug any gaps emerging from the result of this test.
